I’ll admit it, I’m a wimp when it comes to hot weather.  So I think it’s probably obvious that summertime and I aren’t exactly best friends.

To be fair, I think that if we lived in an area that wasn’t so humid it would probably make a difference.  Because I do love the sunshine and I don’t necessarily mind the warmth when it’s not extremely humid.

But it’s those hot, humid days that totally get to me.  If I’m not in air conditioning, I quickly feel sluggish and irritable, and it’s not uncommon for me to actually feel slightly sick on my stomach too.

So it’s kind of an understatement to say that I am extremely grateful for air conditioning!

Air conditioning, no oven recipes and cold treats like ice cream and Frozen Fruit Salad Slush become some of my favorite things in the summer!

You all know how much I love my ice cream- I can eat it anytime, anywhere and homemade chocolate syrup makes it extra yummy!

But if I’m feeling like I want something cold that’s a bit healthier, then I reach for this Frozen Fruit Salad Slush!  It’s so refreshing and simply hits the spot.

In fact, it’s so good that we don’t just eat it in the heat of summer.  I actually like to keep some in the freezer all the time to pull out and enjoy as an easy dessert or treat any time of the year!

Frozen Fruit Slush also works great in packed lunches too!  In fact, if your lunch box is insulated, it will actually act as a small ice pack and keep other things cool too.

Just freeze the fruit slush in small containers (these work great!), add one to your lunch and it will be thawed and perfectly slushy by the time you’re ready to eat!

This easy Frozen Fruit Salad Slush is the perfect summer treat! It’s so refreshing and makes a great snack, appetizer or healthier dessert.

Total Time 8 hours 20 minutes

  • 1 ½
  • 3
  • 12
    frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1
20 oz. can crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 7 to 8
    bananas, mashed or diced
  • 1 to 2
    blueberries, fresh or frozen
  • 3
    diced peaches, fresh or canned
if using canned see my notes below
  • 2
    grapes, halved or quartered

  1. Stir sugar into water until dissolved.
  2. Add frozen orange juice concentrate and mix in.
  3. Stir in fruit. Once totally combined, put into containers. Freeze. (Remember that it will expand when frozen, so you’ll want to allow about ½ in. space at the top of the container.)

  4. To serve, remove from freezer about 30 minutes before you are ready to eat. Or you can also defrost it in the microwave if you put the slush in microwave safe containers.

Recipe Notes

* Feel free to use whatever kind of fruit you prefer. As long as the total amount of fruit equals 6 to 7 cups plus the bananas, it should be fine.

* If using canned peaches, you can use the peach juice in place of some of the water and then cut back a little on the sugar.

* We love these freezer containers and they have a variety of sizes which is really nice.
